In conjunction with World AIDS Day 2019, the Boston University School of Public Health is hosting a Dec. 2 panel to explore the possibility and real challenges of eradicating AIDS at a global level. (World AIDS Day is today, Dec. 1).
The panel, “Is Eradicating AIDS Possible?,” takes place Monday, December 2, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the Hiebert Lounge, 72 East Concord Street, in Boston (near Boston Medical Center).
Delivering the keynote address is Jonathan Mermin, director of the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), and Rear Admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service.
On the panel are Izukanji Sikazwe, CEO, Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia; Douglas M. Brooks, executive director, community engagement, Gilead Sciences; Helen Ayles, professor of infectious disease and international health and director of research, Zambart Project, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; and Gary Daffin, executive director, Multicultural AIDS Coalition.
The panel plus a Q&A to follow are moderated by Moderator: Susan Cu-Uvin, professor of obstetrics and gynecology, director of global health initiative, rofessor of health services, policy and practice, and professor of medicine at Brown University, and director of the Providence/Boston Center for AIDS Research (CFAR).
