As the September 24 Bay State election approaches, Alejandro St. Guillen—who, if elected, would become the first openly gay and first Latinx woman to serve on the Boston City Council—added to her endorsements with a key nod from Mass. State Rep. Edward F. Coppinger.
St. Guillen is running to be elected city councilor-at-large, a seat that represents the entire city of Boston. Coppinger’s 10th Suffolk district covers West Roxbury, South Brookline and a portion of Roslindale.
“As a mother and homeowner in West Roxbury for the last 8 years, Alejandra knows and understands the issues facing our city and neighborhood. She has been a Boston Public School teacher, public servant and advocate for education equity and electoral reform. As someone who has spent her life in service to the people of Boston both inside and outside of government, Alejandra is prepared to hit the ground running on Day 1,” stated Mass. State Rep. Edward F Coppinger.
“I am proud to support her and thrilled to cast a vote for her to be our next at-Large Boston City Councilor from West Roxbury,” Coppinger said.
St. Guillen’s other major endorsements include:
Elected officials Boston City Council At-Large Michelle Wu; State Reps Mike Moran, Adrian Madaro, Nika Elugardo, Jon Santiago and Dan Cullinane; and District 1 City Councilor Lydia Edwards.
Democratic State Committees: Boston Wards 4, 5 and 15.
Unions: UNITE HERE Local 26, SEIU 32BJ District 615 and the Greater Boston Labor Council
Organizations: Right to the City VOTE, West Roxbury/Roslindale Progressives, Mass Women’s Political Caucus, VoteMAMA, JP Progressives, Baystate Stonewall Democrats and the LGBTQ Victory Fund.
