The 33rd annual AIDS Walk & Run Boston is only a few days away—this Sunday, June 3—and AIDS Action Committee has set one more goal for thousands of its participants: to up its pledges by $100,000 or more before Friday, June 1.
And they’re offering some incentives to take their contribution pledges to the next level:
On Thursday, May 31, the participant with the most dollars raised by 11:59 p.m. will win four VIP tickets to Taste of the South End 2019, a $1,000 value.
Plus every participant who’s raised $500 or more between Wednesday, May 30 and 11:59 p.m. Friday, June 1, will be entered into a drawing for to win an iPad.
All AIDS Walk & Run Boston walkers, runners, virtual walkers and volunteers are eligible. Winners will be notified by Friday, June 29. And prizes are limited to one per participant.
The event regularly draws thousands of participants, making it the region’s largest HIV/AIDS public awareness event. The Walk is approximately 5.8 miles and the 5K Run is a competitive, timed event fully sanctioned by the USA Track & Field Association.
The Walk will begin and end at the corner of Charles and Beacon streets on the Boston Common. The Run will start and end at the nearby DCR Hatch Shell. Registration and check-in for both events will take place on the Boston Common beginning at 7:30 a.m. The Run begins at 9:50 a.m. and the Walk sets off at 10 a.m. The event will feature a speaking program, emceed by WCVB Channel 5’s Randy Price, awards, and entertainment. A free Wellness Festival, presented by Whole Foods Market, will also take place on the Common from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
