If you’re looking for an excuse to take a trip up north, in September the Green Mountain State’s biggest city, Burlington, hosts Pride Vermont. This year the official annual celebration is preceded on Saturday by a Saturday “Stride for Pride” 5K-walk along the waterfront of Lake Champlain and a Women’s Tea Dance with an outdoor dance floor. On Sunday comes the main event: a parade and festival throughout the cobblestone-lined Church Street Marketplace. The year’s theme is “Diverse Voices, One Pride,” and will feature grand marshals Brenda Churchill from the LGBTQIA Alliance of Vermont and DJ-musician Craig Mitchell.
