Northeastern University’s award-winning annual Reach (OUT) LGBTA+ Career Conference, now in its third year, will be held again in Boston on the evening of November 4 and all day November 5 at Northeastern’s Alumni Center, 716 Columbus Ave. 6th Floor Suite
Online registration—free for any Boston-area student with a college ID and required to attend —is now open for this two-day event that offers excellent opportunities for students to gain advice and career-planning strategies with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
Conference planners want all college students to know:
This event focuses on the perspectives and concerns of queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary, intersex and asexual students in preparation for co-op, internships and professional life beyond campus. Students will meet with professionals from various industries to discuss questions in one-on-one sessions, and develop professional skills in presentations dedicated to preparing for professional working environment. Reach (OUT) LGBTQA+ Career Conference is the recipient of a 2016 National Association of Colleges and Employers “Excellence in Diversity” Award.
Northeastern received the award at the 2016 NACE Conference and Expo, held in Chicago. According to news@Northeastern:
Northeastern held its first Reach (Out) LGBTQA+ Career Conference in March 2015 and then held another one in November. Nearly 100 students from Northeastern and other area colleges and universities attended the second conference and then responded to a survey centered on their experience at the event. Ninety percent of respondents reported feeling more prepared to begin their job search as an LGBTQA+ person; 87 percent said they expanded their professional network by interacting with panelists, participants, employers, and volunteers at the conference; and 93 percent said they learned new strategies for addressing identity-related questions and concerns in career planning.
Northeastern’s Career Development office, the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, and the LGBTQ Resource Center co-sponsor are the conference’s cosponsors.
