To honor the victims of the mass shooting that took place early this morning, June 12, at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, all five Boston Pride block parties are holding a moment of silence this afternoon “likely around 4 p.m.,” Pride organizer Sylvain Bruni told the Boston Globe.
According to Boston police spokesperson Rachel Maguire, there will also be increased security at all Pride events.
There will also be a candlelight vigil tonight at the Copley Square Park (in front of the Trinity Church) at 8:00 p.m. in memory of the victims of the Orlando shooting.

The Pulse nightclub was the site of what is being described as domestic terrorism by officials. Fifty people were left dead after the shooting and 53 wounded, authorities announced at a press conference in Orlando Sunday morning.
Following the 46th annual Boston Pride parade celebrating Boston’s gay community Saturday afternoon, five block parties are scheduled to end the weekend on Sunday afternoon. The two flagship parties are in Back Bay at St. James Avenue and Berkley Street from 1 to 8 p.m. and in Jamaica Plain at Perkins and Center streets from 2 to 8 p.m.
