There’s nothing like the warm feeling you get when you give a kid a holiday gift. At the Seventh Annual Toys for Joys Gift Gala, revelers get to give at least three gifts for tots, tweens and teens. Plus, they celebrate the spirit of the season by piling thousands of these presents for children in need under a giant Christmas tree while enjoying passed hors d’oeuvres, signature seasonal spirits and dancing to DJ Steve Marsden under a state of the art light show.
This year’s Toys for Joys festivities take place from 7:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Dec. 11, at Space 57 in the Revere Hotel, 200 Stuart Street, Boston. Dress attire is holiday festive.
Each guest brings at least three unwrapped toys to the gala with a minimum of $20-$25 per gift, though everyone is encouraged to generously give gifts of greater value, if possible. Here’s how it works: If your last name begins with A to M, bring a gift for a girl and N to Z a gift for a boy. Donations are accepted for tots (ages 3 months to 5 years), tweens (6 to 11 years), and teens (12 to 18).
Toys for Joys, Inc. is a nonprofit, 100-percent volunteer, charitable organization that raises funds from individuals and corporate sponsors to collect and distribute new toys and gifts for underprivileged children and teens. The group parents with local charities like the Teddy Bear Foundation and Boston Housing Authority to get the gifts to the kids.
