Calling all LGBTQ motor- and sailboaters of New England!
With its mission to bring together gay, lesbian, and transgender boaters and friends to have fun on and off the water, the Yankee Cruising Club (YCC), has created a new website, planned several events, and suspended dues for 2016.
Check out the YCC’s new website to learn about new on- and off-the-water events, chat about boats, and connect with other members. The club has planned regular meetings both on and off the water.
Here’s what’s coming up so far:
Saturday, April 2, at 9 a.m.: Defender Industries Warehouse Sale, at 42 Great Neck Road, Waterford, Conn.
Monday, April 11, 6 p.m.: YCC Happy Hour at Legal Harborside, at 240 Liberty Wharf, Boston.
Saturday, May 7, 6 p.m.: Commissioning Potluck. Details available when you sign on at the website as a new member.
Saturday, June 18, noon: June On-the-Water Meet-up in Buzzards Bay. Check out the website for details.
On the relaunch, incoming Commodore Keith Costa said, “When I moved back to Boston, I was disappointed to find out that the club was not very active. I’m excited to be part of the efforts to get the club going again and I’m looking forward to a great season. We welcome all new members with an interest in boating.”
The Yankee Cruising Club, states its relaunch release, “was founded over 25 years ago to bring together gay and lesbian boaters together to meet, make friends, and most importantly get out on the water. It is an open and friendly place for men and women to socialize and be themselves. The club is made up of a diverse group of water lovers: men and women, young and young at heart, boat owners and crew, sailboaters and power boaters, those that are new to the sport and with extensive blue water experience.”
