Bay State Attorney General Maura Healy, U.S. Congressman Joe Kennedy and keynote speaker Dr. Rene McLaughlin were just a few of the luminaries among the guest speakers at the 2016 First Event conference, which took over all 17 conference rooms, social gathering spaces, and guest rooms at the Westin Hotel in Waltham. At the conference, held in mid-January, 180 workshops catered to just about everyone under the transgender umbrella—youth and family, spouses/partners, therapists-in-training , transsexuals, genderqueers, crossdressers, the non-binary, and friends of the community.
