In celebration of Black History Month Boston Pride is doing what it does best—putting on a bunch of events, parties, and other activities that generate pride in community and in each and every individual of the community.

Black Pride 2016, which starts on Thursday, February, 11, and runs through Monday, February 15, features seven events.

Kicking things off is the “If You Can Feel It, You Can Speak It” Open Mic Night, beginning at 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, at the Milky Way, 284 Amory Street, in Jamaica Plain. Along with the open mic, there will be plenty of free food, dancing to a live deejay, and games.

It’s “Old School Throwback Night” on Friday, February 12, starting at 10 p.m. at Hurricane O’Reilly’s, 150 Canal Street, in Boston. The dress code, need we say, is “throwback” styles. Reservations are required; got to the Facebook page Old School Throwback Night by The Laus Squared to make them. Admission is $10 at the door.

Saturday, February 13, brings a Soul Brunch and Tea Dance, spun by a live deejay, starting at 11 a.m., at Daryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen, 604 Columbus Avenue, in Boston. Admission, open to all ages, is $30.

A Youth Valentine’s Dance is the happening on Saturday night, February 13, beginning at 6 p.m., at a new venue called MakeShift, which is located at 549 Columbus Avenue, in Boston. Spun by DJ Mixtress and Natural Vybez, this event is strictly for the 21 and under crowd. For more in, go to bostonpride.org/youthpride, or call the Pride Line at (617) 262-9405.

On Sunday, February. 14 (Happy Valentine’s Day! ), the lanes are open for an afternoon of “Out Bowling,” from 2 to 4 p.m., at Kings, 50 Dalton Street, in Boston. This event, open to all ages, includes free pizza and unlimited fountain drinks with a $15 shoe rental fee.

On the evening of Monday, February 15, there will be a pre-screening mingle before the showing of “The Same Difference,” a documentary about lesbians who discriminate against other lesbian based on gender roles. The screening is sold out but that shouldn’t stop anyone from attending the mingle, where they can meet the film’s director Naeka Onourah and actor Jahmil Eady. This pre-party takes place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. p.m. at Harborside Luxury Lounge, 185 State Street, in Boston.
